Gold Price Calculator: Start with the Item you have

Choose the country currency, match the article’s purity and enter its net gold-alloy weight. The result estimates that weight’s value at the displayed metal reference. Use it to check a price table, prepare a jewellery comparison or convert an offer from one weight unit to another.

Keep the distinction between alloy weight and fine-gold weight in mind. An 18K item weighing 8 grams has a nominal fine-gold content of 6 grams. If you enter the 8-gram alloy weight, select 18K. If a product specification already supplies fine-gold content, use that quantity with the pure-metal reference instead of reducing it for purity again.

The Calculation in Three Stages

1. Match a published weight first. A supported original tola or 10-gram quotation is used when the selected amount matches it. Multiples entered in that quoted unit use its published unit amount.
2. Use the matching purity. A supported published purity rate takes precedence. A derived purity uses the stated karat fraction of the pure-metal reference.
3. Convert other weights. Where no matching original weight quotation applies, use the gram factors and per-gram reference. Round the completed result for display in the country’s currency.

For a gram-based conversion, the formula is reference value = net alloy weight in grams × matching-purity price per gram. A supported original weight quotation is preserved instead when applicable. Read the rate’s observation date before comparing an offer received at another time.

Example: a 7.5-Gram 22K Item

Hypothetical example: assume a 24K reference of 120 currency units per gram. The nominal 22K calculation is 120 × 22 ÷ 24 = 110 per gram. An item containing 7.5 grams of that alloy has a metal reference of 7.5 × 110 = 825. These example numbers are deliberately separate from the current market rate.

If the active source supplies a separate 22K quotation, use that quotation in the multiplication. A published domestic purity rate can have its own market basis, so it should not be overwritten simply to force the theoretical ratio.

Example: Checking a One-Tola Quote Against 10 Grams

This calculator defines one tola as 11.6638038 grams. To make a manual conversion, divide a same-purity per-tola amount by 11.6638038 to find its per-gram equivalent, then multiply by 10 for a 10-gram comparison. A 12-gram quotation requires a multiplier of 12. If the source separately publishes both tola and 10-gram amounts, the tool retains those original supported quotations for their own units instead of replacing one with this derived comparison.

For a purely illustrative rate of 100 currency units per gram, one tola is approximately 1,166.38, 10 grams is 1,000 and 12 grams is 1,200. The different totals arise from different weights. The conversion guide provides the complete unit table and additional examples.

Example: Estimating the Weight Supported by a Budget

Reverse the multiplication when comparing a fixed metal budget. If the matching-purity reference were 80 units per gram, 400 units would represent 5 grams of alloy before other costs. For a purchase budget, first account for the charges in the actual offer. Dividing the complete budget by a bare metal rate can overstate the weight you can buy.

Example: 14K and 9ct Jewellery

Hypothetical calculation: a 6-gram solid 14K ring contains a nominal 6 × 14 ÷ 24 = 3.5 grams of gold. A 6-gram solid 9ct ring contains 2.25 grams. At an assumed pure-gold reference of 100 currency units per gram, their metal references would be 350 and 225. Select the correct purity with the 6-gram alloy weight; do not reduce the weight and also choose a reduced purity.

Where a report gives a measured fineness, calculate from that actual fraction. For example, 6 grams at 585 fineness contains 3.51 grams of gold. This is slightly different from the nominal 14/24 model. A stamp, a calculator selection and an assay report are different kinds of information.

Use the Result Alongside an Itemised Quotation

For jewellery, ask which weight excludes stones and other non-gold parts. For bullion, check the stated metal content and the complete product price. A seller may charge a premium or workmanship amount separately, and a buyer may quote deductions from the estimated metal value. Those terms require the actual business’s quotation.

Record the calculated reference, the seller’s metal amount and the other invoice items in separate lines. This makes it easier to see whether a difference comes from the rate, weight, purity or a separate charge. The gold quotation guide works through a comparison between two offers.
