Table of Contents

Read gold prices in UAE dirhams alongside purity, weight, making charges and the conditions of a Dubai or other emirate shop quotation.

Compare the Gold Weight before Comparing the Offer

An AED gold quotation can refer to the metal value per gram, a finished jewellery item or a specific bullion product. Establish which price the seller is showing before comparing it with the dashboard. For a chain or bangle, identify the purity and net gold weight. For a bar, read the declared fineness, weight, brand and package details.

The current AED reference converts the USD metal price using a separately dated currency input. It provides a comparison basis alongside a retailer’s own gold-rate board and the final price of an item. For Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, an observed shop quotation retains its own supplier and date. A retailer’s rate board, the finished-item invoice and the amount eligible for a tourist refund are separate figures; keep all three if a refund is part of your cost comparison.

Making Charges, Tax and the Complete AED Total

Ask for metal value, making charges, stone value and tax to be understandable in the written offer. If one seller quotes making charges per gram and another offers a percentage discount, reduce both offers to a complete payable total for the same item specifications. A large discount is not informative until the amount to which it applies is clear.

The Federal Tax Authority’s VAT guidance identifies certain investment-grade precious metals among zero-rated supplies. That category does not make every jewellery purchase automatically tax-free. Use the invoice’s product classification and current FTA guidance for the actual transaction, including any distinct service charges.

Buying as a Visitor

If you plan to seek a tourist VAT refund, check the retailer’s participation and product eligibility before paying. The FTA tourist-refund procedure explains the documentation and export-validation process. Preserve the purchase record and ensure the goods remain available for any required inspection before checked baggage is handed over. A potential refund should be calculated separately from the price you initially pay.

For purchases intended to leave the UAE, also check your destination’s declaration and import requirements. A favourable AED shop price does not by itself establish the final landed cost. Match currency conversion, purity, weight and all applicable charges before comparing it with a quote from another country.

Product Testing and Accreditation

Dubai Municipality describes precious-metal purity-testing services, while DMCC’s gold guidance discusses the UAE’s bullion ecosystem and standards. A test result or refinery accreditation concerns a defined item, process or organisation. It should not be interpreted as a government endorsement of an unrelated gold-price website or a guarantee of a future resale price.

Use the spot versus retail-price guide to separate the AED reference from a finished product. The Pakistan gold page explains the different local-reference basis used there.

Worked AED Comparison: a Making-Charge Discount

Fictional offers for the same 10-gram 22K item: suppose the metal component is AED 3,000. Seller A charges AED 40 per gram for workmanship, producing AED 400 in making charges. Seller B advertises 50% off a stated AED 700 making charge, leaving AED 350. Before the applicable invoice tax and other items, the totals are AED 3,400 and AED 3,350.

The advertised 50% reduction saves AED 350 against Seller B’s original making charge. It saves AED 50 against Seller A’s complete pre-tax offer. It does not halve the AED 3,000 metal amount or establish a 50% saving on the final jewellery bill.

If you are buying as a visitor, record any potential tourist refund separately after the retailer and refund scheme confirm eligibility. The price initially paid and a later refund are different cash amounts. This illustration is not a Dubai shop quotation or a promise of a refund.

FAQs

Is this the Same as a Dubai Shop’s Gold-Rate Board?

This dashboard shows an international spot equivalent in AED. A shop’s posted reference and its final item price may use different assumptions or update times. Compare the board’s purity and timestamp, then ask for the complete amount payable for your chosen item.

How do I Compare Dubai and Abu Dhabi Jewellery Offers?

Ask each named seller for the same net gold weight and purity, with all charges expressed in AED. Match the quotation dates and compare complete totals along with return or exchange terms. A local price record applies to its identified supplier and product basis.

Does a Making-Charge Discount Reduce the Whole Jewellery Bill?

Only if that is what the written offer says. A discount may apply solely to workmanship while the gold and stones retain their quoted prices. Ask the seller to show the original charge, the reduction and the final total.

Is All Gold Bought in the UAE Free of VAT?

No. The FTA identifies qualifying investment-grade precious metals for zero-rating; product conditions matter. A jewellery item should not automatically be treated as investment bullion. Confirm the actual classification and invoice treatment with the seller.

Can a Tourist Recover VAT on a Gold Purchase?

Eligibility depends on the purchase and participation in the scheme. The FTA tourist-refund process explains retailer registration, required documents and validation. Confirm eligibility before buying and do not treat the refund as already received when comparing prices.

What should I Keep for a Tourist Refund?

Follow the FTA procedure for the original travel document, purchase record and export validation. Keep the goods accessible if inspection is required. A shop receipt alone does not mean every condition of the refund process has been completed.

Why does a 24K Coin Cost More per Gram than the Calculator?

The calculator measures a metal reference. The coin’s manufacturing, design, packaging and selling premium can increase its product price. Compare the fine-gold weight and the complete delivered amount for the exact coin rather than using its face value.

Can a Purity Test Confirm that a Shop’s Price is Fair?

A test assesses material composition, not commercial value. Dubai Municipality’s testing information explains the purity-testing role. You still need to compare the article’s weight, workmanship and complete offered price to assess its cost.

Does UAE Good Delivery Accreditation Certify this Website?

No. DMCC’s guidance discusses standards for the bullion sector. An accreditation or refinery listing applies within its stated scope; it does not authenticate this dashboard or convert an independent market reference into a government retail price.

Should I Compare UAE Gold with Pakistan Using the Same Tola?

Convert both offers to grams first, then match purity and the currency exchange basis. Add the charges relevant to the actual purchase and any cross-border movement. Comparing an AED jewellery total with a PKR metal-only reference is incomplete.

Will a UAE Dealer Buy Back Jewellery at the Rate I Paid?

Ask for the dealer’s current buyback policy and an actual offer. The original workmanship charge, stones and selling premium may receive different treatment on resale. Keep the purchase invoice and compare the amount you would receive after all deductions.

What does a Change on the AED Historical Chart Represent?

It measures the change between the selected daily archive’s dated AED reference observations. Gold and currency inputs belong to the same publication date. Keep that series distinct from a shop’s current gold-rate board, product premiums and resale terms.
